Afro-American Zeitgeist

Photo by Ali Hajian on Unsplash The Afro-American Zeitgeist : A Summary of Unconscious Thoughts on Race (Part 1) July 30th, Passionless Bliss : "I am not afraid of death because death is invisible. If I can't see where it's going or what it is doing, is it doing anything at all? However, I am afraid of empty buildings because they confirm the reality of death's existence." Or, in simpler terms, Ignorance is bliss until reality hits. My dreams began by directly addressing my unwillingness to look into the deaths of African-Americans across the country. Despite my lack of knowledge, I became seriously opinionated about the nature of the incidents themselves, almost refusing to consider blackness as a factor. However, after the first dream, I began an investigation to prove blackness had nothing to do with these deaths. In the following paragraphs, I will take you through the sequence of dreams, which forced me to come to the conclusions, or at least my current stan...

Mirror Folk

Photo by Casey Horner on Unsplash October 24 : Do you wanna see something cool.  Go into your closet and under a shelf (preferably empty and across from the door), push against the wall, and then past it. Push forward until you find yourself facing another shelf, and you're almost there. The resonate hum of glass will signal the success of ones crossing the threshold between our worlds. Should you choose to keep going, you will find yourself facing the closet door that you entered, step through it and see for yourself that which lies beyond. Firstly, one might notice that everything looks the same. They that live here will look just like those they imitate. There is one flaw in their trick, they are polar opposite to those they imitate. Be sure to stop by on a rainy day to marvel at the sight of rainbows that bend in unnatural ways and in an order reversed from those beyond this world of glass.  Lastly, you must never forget; Don't go alone Don't go at night You might hav...

Úlfhéðnar

Photo by Chris Ensminger on Unsplash October 18: Nap Dream; I was getting ready to say goodbye to some family friends. We decided to play a game before we said our goodbyes. This was similar to the game tag; however, two people were "it" and not just one.  I decided to use a secret technique to win the game. I got down on all fours like an animal, and the game began. My friend looked at me and said something like, "You will be both?" Everything slowed down as I charged forward; it all felt like it was happening in slow motion. My body moved with incredible agility and superhuman dexterity. The dream ended where I had backflipped just out of reach of someone else that had nearly caught me, and I was smiling. In many dreams before this one, to become animalistic was often the solution to my problems. A loud roar that thundered from somewhere deep within would signal various stages of my transformation, and my humanity would slowly fade away. This was the first time I...

Manifest Destiny

Photo by Lerone Pieters on Unsplash October 13 : I was a supernatural bounty hunter/warden, driving with my team to a wanted criminal's location. One of my teammates (Nick, I think) was a convict; apparently, it was normal for him to help us catch criminals that the police were struggling to find and arrest. Nick was in jail because of a drug addiction he was struggling to kick; oftentimes, he would be in jail for three-month increments, long enough for him to become clean. However, after being released, he'd go back to his old neighborhood with all the drugs and find himself in a jail cell all over again. He was a very nice guy stuck in a cycle he could not break and an environment that made true change realistically impossible. A woman came along with Nick and me, she informed us who we were looking for. That night, the bounty we were seeking to collect was a man that had successfully alluded the police for a long time. The man was rich and obviously a crime lord of sorts...

Already White

Photo by David Becker on Unsplash September 24 : Two Dreams Elohim (Gods) Without Borders Ancient beings said to be millions of years older than creation. This dialogue took place in a realm of darkness, seemingly space itself, only empty of stars, planets, etc. A single triangular shape was illuminated by streaming and curving colors of light in this black and grey void. The dream was colored in various shades of gray and black to give the illusion of bright light. An eye was in the triangle/pyramid, the object was titanic. A figure was levitated up towards the center of the object. A human, I suppose. If I had to guess the job title, it would be an Astro-Archaeologist. Th ey were trying and failing to understand the meaning of the pictographs that were scrawled along its surface. Who these ancient beings were on the other side of this gate remained a mystery. Apparently, mankind had served them for millions of years before currently known history. Who were these mysterious Gods that...

Tricenarian Game

Photo by Hassan Pasha on Unsplash The Man Who Never Lost & The Man That Never Loses Two men seated at a table, deep in contemplation. A fierce battle is underway, replayed for the last time where it had always happened for the past thirty years. The only weapons allowed are their wits and the only armor they have is their stoicism. Only one is deserving of the title that he possesses and today is the day they find out who is truly worthy of his name. Let us begin by analyzing "The man who never loses". Everyday he plays their game he will look his opponent in the eyes, and then he makes his move. It carries him through the whole game without fail, just as he knows it will. A scratch of the chin, a twitch of the eye, a tiny grimace here and there. These are his signals, signposts towards victory. Today is no exception. His opponent is a creature of habit, victory is assured. The "Opponent", moves quickly, erratically, just as he always has. For the first time, b...
