Vox Populi

September 6,

In my dream, a controversial story came across the news, apparently, an anchorman was found to have markings of a right ring political group. I have the feeling it was a red circle on the back of his left shoulder with an "R" or some symbol inside the circle. Members would use this to get access to group meetings I believe. This was quite scandalous in this dream for some reason.

Once I awoke, dream logic plagued my mind. From this state of corruption, I began to write everything you are about to read below.

"Shouldn't news people take a more objective approach to their personal lives and not one leaning either right or left. The reason being, if they are objective and produce objective news then they can truly call themselves objective reporters. However, to create true objectivity we must create objectivity (you heard that right), and this is our dilemma. To have objective media we must have objective media already, neither of which seems to exist. Thus it is far too late for us to expect objective news when what we have grown up on has always been biased.

If this is true, then true objectivity is lost, and this would seem harmful to the public. Would it then be right to assume that the media itself is a tool for the public for as long as they are acting as the voice, eyes, and ears of the populace? If true, then shouldn't the media be asked to speak in a way that does not support any political party over another. We as a nation trust them with our voice, but so many of us are not heard. Dividing to cover differing perspectives does seem to make sense, however, once one begins to divide, when does it stop. Then we also face biases within each subset of political divisions that seem to ignore the flaws in their own logic whenever they present themselves.

Regarding objectivity, I am reminded of the chicken or the egg dilemma. One might ask, "Which do you think came first, the chicken or the egg?" My response, yes. Objectivity would seem circular in that same sense. To have true objectivity, true objectivity must exist already.

Afro-American Zeitgeist

Photo by Ali Hajian on Unsplash The Afro-American Zeitgeist : A Summary of Unconscious Thoughts on Race (Part 1) July 30th, Passionless Bliss : "I am not afraid of death because death is invisible. If I can't see where it's going or what it is doing, is it doing anything at all? However, I am afraid of empty buildings because they confirm the reality of death's existence." Or, in simpler terms, Ignorance is bliss until reality hits. My dreams began by directly addressing my unwillingness to look into the deaths of African-Americans across the country. Despite my lack of knowledge, I became seriously opinionated about the nature of the incidents themselves, almost refusing to consider blackness as a factor. However, after the first dream, I began an investigation to prove blackness had nothing to do with these deaths. In the following paragraphs, I will take you through the sequence of dreams, which forced me to come to the conclusions, or at least my current stan...

Magenta

Photo by aslam mac on Unsplash Dream 02/20/21 I glanced at a book in a dream, the dream I have forgotten but the book I have not. The book was a guide for couples, and it got me thinking, "Why not contemplate the topic of love?" For the sake of keeping this pg, I am not gonna state the title of this book here, nor its content; however, in place of the name, I shall use a word that describes the color of the book: that color being Magenta. Jesus says that the entire law of Moses could be fulfilled in two commands. Those commands being, "Love others, and Love God." In the context of community, we both love others and are loved by others. I would like to expound upon this statement by imagining two postures: a receptive posture and a posture of distribution. In other words, we give love, and at other times we receive love.  Love is communicated from one person to another in many ways. If we don't understand what love looks like, it becomes easy to misidentify it. ...

Posting Schedule

Photo by Mille Sanders on Unsplash Today I am happy to announce my posting schedule! I intended to do it at some point; why not today? Each week I plan to do between 1-2 posts. These posts will be a compilation of the dreams I have had over the week and the lessons I have learned over that time. This depends on whether I can extract any lessons from the dreams themselves. I intend to post on the weekends, once on Friday or Saturday, and perhaps once on Sunday. Just a heads up!  A big thanks to everyone that swings by to read my posts when they have the time! I hope they are not too weird. "Smiley Face Emoji."
