False Awakenings

Art is courtesy of my friend, Shellie Summers. Thank you, Shellie!

Lately, my dreams have been filled with werewolves, vampires, necromancers, and other monsters. The fights are full of magic and are incredible to behold. However, I have not learned anything of value from them. Unless, of course, one is looking to find a way to keep a vampire from killing you. I don't think knowing that using light magic as a possible weapon instead of dark magic (also called filth) would be of any use to anyone in real life. Thats why today I have decided to post about a dream I had some time ago that I think back to every once in a while. ”Some time ago” is short for "I can't remember when, but I know it was likely this month or last month." I have forgotten most of this dream, but I do remember the most significant part to me.

In the sky was a gigantic sphere; inside that sphere was another Earth that I was constructing with awesome power. However, as the new world grew bigger, our world grew smaller, and the people and things that inhabited this world began to disappear from our world only to have copies of them formed in this other world. In other words, the price for creating a world was the world that I had come from. Once I had seen people fade away, I stopped to consider my options; build a world of my own design and sacrifice our world or sacrifice that world to restore the real Earth.

After waking from this dream, I pondered the idea that it was commenting on my constant daydreaming, a habit I have had for as long as I can remember. It has gotten so bad, as of late, that I dislike driving because the daydreams can become so real that I struggle to perceive and react to the world around me. Worst still is that they can be triggered at any time without me realizing I have begun to do it. It is second nature to me at this point. I feel like I am stuck between two worlds, and now, as I get older, I am faced with the responsibility of choosing a world to inhabit. Should I embrace the dream where I am a god but live life as a vagabond or a hermit with my mind floating somewhere far above, or do I choose to stay in this world where every day requires something I feel that only exists in the realm of dreams? I know what I should choose, but I am still struggling to make a choice. I am a Sleepwalker, lost to the land of Nod and looking for a reason to come back home.

P.S. Editing of this post and my previous post “Rethinking Isms as an African American” is courteous of My friend Midnight Philosopher over at https://lionsandworms.blogspot.com/?m-1. Feel free to check him out.

  1. How strange it is to think that some people can be fully present. You and I know something of the constant dreamy imaginations that are incessantly at war with our reality. Lord, help us.

Afro-American Zeitgeist

Photo by Ali Hajian on Unsplash The Afro-American Zeitgeist : A Summary of Unconscious Thoughts on Race (Part 1) July 30th, Passionless Bliss : "I am not afraid of death because death is invisible. If I can't see where it's going or what it is doing, is it doing anything at all? However, I am afraid of empty buildings because they confirm the reality of death's existence." Or, in simpler terms, Ignorance is bliss until reality hits. My dreams began by directly addressing my unwillingness to look into the deaths of African-Americans across the country. Despite my lack of knowledge, I became seriously opinionated about the nature of the incidents themselves, almost refusing to consider blackness as a factor. However, after the first dream, I began an investigation to prove blackness had nothing to do with these deaths. In the following paragraphs, I will take you through the sequence of dreams, which forced me to come to the conclusions, or at least my current stan...

Magenta

Photo by aslam mac on Unsplash Dream 02/20/21 I glanced at a book in a dream, the dream I have forgotten but the book I have not. The book was a guide for couples, and it got me thinking, "Why not contemplate the topic of love?" For the sake of keeping this pg, I am not gonna state the title of this book here, nor its content; however, in place of the name, I shall use a word that describes the color of the book: that color being Magenta. Jesus says that the entire law of Moses could be fulfilled in two commands. Those commands being, "Love others, and Love God." In the context of community, we both love others and are loved by others. I would like to expound upon this statement by imagining two postures: a receptive posture and a posture of distribution. In other words, we give love, and at other times we receive love.  Love is communicated from one person to another in many ways. If we don't understand what love looks like, it becomes easy to misidentify it. ...

Posting Schedule

Photo by Mille Sanders on Unsplash Today I am happy to announce my posting schedule! I intended to do it at some point; why not today? Each week I plan to do between 1-2 posts. These posts will be a compilation of the dreams I have had over the week and the lessons I have learned over that time. This depends on whether I can extract any lessons from the dreams themselves. I intend to post on the weekends, once on Friday or Saturday, and perhaps once on Sunday. Just a heads up!  A big thanks to everyone that swings by to read my posts when they have the time! I hope they are not too weird. "Smiley Face Emoji."
