Mosaic Covenant

What is the Purpose of the Law?

God impacts the way in which people live their lives so radically that the eyes of the world turn towards His children and thus they witness His work and this establishes His own credibility and exalts Him in the eyes of the witnesses. Pre-law: Deuteronomy 4:3-8 is a pretty good example of this; “Your eyes have seen what the Lord has done in the case of Baal-peor, for all the men who followed Baal-peor, the Lord your God has destroyed them from among you. But you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, everyone of you.“See, I have taught you statutes and judgements just as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should do thus in the land where you are entering to possess it. So keep and do them, for that is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes and say, ’Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as is the Lord our God whenever we call on Him? Or what great nation is there that has statutes and judgements as righteous as this whole law which I am setting before you today?" Other examples would be Genesis 39; God blessed Joseph in Potiphar's house and while he was in Jail, this made him desirable because people wanted to benefit from that blessing that constantly overflowed. Genesis 41; Joseph's name precedes him due to the power of God in his life and God builds up Joseph in the eyes of all, thus God's name becomes elevated at the same time. Joshua 2:1-24 is a great example of this in the story of  Rahab. The land of promise was in terror, they heard of the works of God and knew that they did not stand a chance against the people whose God marched among them. By default, these actions exalt the name of the Lord in the eyes of the world who see God by His actions among Israel. This is actually why the Lord spared Israel when they broke His covenant through the construction of the Golden calf. Here in Exodus 32:11-14, and in 34:9-28, we see God repent in regards to His desire to start again with Moses after the golden calf situation after Moses says, “the world is watching what happens here”, Exodus 32:11-14, 34:9-28, and that's when God changed His mind.  Next is 1 Kings 10:1-13, The Queen of Sheeba heard of the wisdom of Solomon and came to Israel to test Him. Upon witnessing it for herself she blessed God and saw clearly His splendor and power. Jonah 1:10-16; the men on the boat became amazed at the power of God and made vows to Him and sacrifices to Him. Then we see the Lord say “I will prove myself holy in the sight of the nations,” Ezekiel 20:41-44. Daniel 2:46-49; Through Daniel's interpretation of the king's dream, God is recognized by man and then both Israel and God are exalted in the eyes of the World. For Believers, we exalt God with our actions. I like to think that I am constructing the right perception of God through my actions. However, I must never forget that I can just as easily construct a wrong perception of God if I am not loving like Jesus did.

  1. Kalleel this is so good. What a great reminder of the True and Living God. You are absolutely correct, we exalt God with our actions. That is such a powerful statement.

Preferred Prey

Photo by Dan Dennis on Unsplash December 4, 2020 In this dream, I was watching a tv show. A were-cat (not to be confused with a werewolf) was living on his own in a post-apocalyptic world. I shall call him "Prey." As he walked, he found himself upon an elevated plain where another were-cat appeared that I shall call "Hunter."  Hunter saw Prey, and both men responded to each other by shifting from human form into a semi-human form with long tails and spotted fur, like cheetahs or jaguars. A 70mph chase ensued across the plateau with Hunter in hot pursuit. Because both were running at the same speed, this was not a chase that would end quickly.  Both men had limited stamina, just like actual big cats. Eventually, the chase came to an end when their energy ran out. Hunter proposed a truce because they found themselves surrounded by trees (bear territory) and it would be safer if they stuck together. Both agreed to this plan, and they began journeying out of the fores...

Does Knowledge Puffeth Up?

Biblical Hermeneutics Why one might ask, is hermeneutics important? Have you ever heard the saying that knowledge puffeth up? It comes from 1 Corinthians 8:1 wherein which I have often heard it said to me as a form of discouragement due to my love of research and knowledge. The reason proposed is that knowledge makes you prideful; thus, knowledge is a dangerous pursuit for those not pastors. This idea is not only far from what Paul was trying to say, but it also contradicts statements like what is written in Hebrews 5:11-14. 1 Corinthians 8:1-13 "Knowledge puffs up, and love edifies" is best understood when read in its entirety and in comparison with "Acts 15:20; "Abstain from things contaminated by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood" which was written to Gentile believers and is the 4 rules that they had been given instead of being given the law as Jewish believers had insisted at the time. 1 Corinthians 8:1-13 is ...

Ad Nauseam

Photo by Robert Anasch on Unsplash July 17, dream In this dream, I had seen a pyramid that was said to be asleep. However, its slumber was disturbed due to the presence of a young man. "When you're awake, this place feels more sadistic." A soldier spoke these words to the young man, which were true. The trees would move within the space of the pyramid that stood within an immense pyramid. In this place, the military was present and looking for Hypnogogic runes. These spells granted one the power of Unas, the God eater. For the one who found them, he would devour all the gods. There was a room I found myself in; runes were etched into the wall of a secret room. Each one was surrounded by blue lightning and set on a nearby wall. The pyramid had made its choice, and its power would be mine. Simultaneously, two friends of mine were getting married in this same pyramid. I was in attendance at both weddings and was wanting to congratulate my friends, but I was torn. My lust ...
